In what promises to be an unmissable event we are putting on the biggest music lesson in Cambridge that will see hundreds learn to play a new musical instrument for free!
On 17th March you are invited to Cambridge Corn Exchange, pick up a free harmonica and start playing! The ‘harmonica wizard’ Steve Lockwood will guide you through the basics and have everyone playing along. The Harmonica Playathon is part of Learn To Play Day; a national initiative that provides free music lessons across the country. Whether you have never played, used to play or always play it is a chance to pick up a new instrument and just have a go!
Simon Pollard, Owner of Millers Music, believes ‘this is an exciting opportunity to share the benefits of music and impact it can have on your life. Music education struggles due to the lack of budget and resource, we hope to make music accessible to all and with a thriving musical community, Cambridge is the perfect place to hold the biggest music lesson this Learn To Play Day!’
Steve Lockwood has written harmonica parts for a Tom Jones tour, recorded with the Royal Philharmonic and played with legendary harmonicist Larry Adler, he has taught harmonica workshops not only in Cambridge but around the world for years. He has teamed up with Millers Music to inspire you to learn a new musical instrument and believes ‘the humble harmonica can be learned at any age and is the perfect introduction or reintroduction to music due to its versatility. I am thrilled to be a part Learn To Play 2018 and can’t wait to play!’
The Harmonica Playathon takes place on Saturday 17th March 11 am at Cambridge Corn Exchange and is free to attend. Everyone will receive a free harmonica on the door, all you have to do is grab your friends and play along! Register to attend below and we will reserve you and your friends and family a harmonica each, you will also be in with the chance of winning a private music lesson with Steve and Lee Oskar Harmonica!
We have now reached capacity and can no longer accept registrations. If you would like to be added to the waiting list please email email@example.com with your name, number and email. We will contact you by the end of the day on Friday 16th March if any space becomes available.
Steve Lockwood will host smaller harmonica workshops at Millers Music throughout the year. If you would like to be added to the mailing list for this please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name and contact number.
